2016 has been a bit of a challenge, having completed the Royal School of Needlework Certificate in Technical Hand Embroidery and the L3 City and Guilds Certificate in Embroidery. My ever-loving hubby thinks I am just a bit more than bonkers for the amount of pressure I load on myself, especially as I took a year out with the C&G then came back and still finished within the registration period... "Don't do any more long courses" came the pitiful plea. But a girl has to keep busy, and keep on stitching, Ssshhhhhh what have I done....
Being in such a rush at the end of the certificate L3 C&G I had to skip the fun part of experimentation for my assessed pieces; I still need more practise in putting an idea onto paper... my next challenge is working on my design techniques with Sian Martin at Distant Stitch. Not for a formal qualification, but just for the fun and taking my time with it.
And then there is the small matter of signing up to do diploma level hand stitching with Tracy A Franklin in Durham, starting with Whitework and Blackwork, again not for the formal RSN qualification just for the fun of it...
Of course the little things keep me busy too. Durham City Embroiderers' Guild have Travelling Books as our project for the coming year, a small piece of stitching every month for one of the books in our group. Take a Stitch group with Emb Guild also needs a small bit of stitching every month... The other two groups I belong to Northern Threads and Backstitch Girls also need a bit of experimental design and stitching...
My good intention for 2017, is to keep a blog of my progress
